Chapter 1 ends with a simple ask: talk to your top engineer about elevating their expertise through training in soft skills. In the old school of thought, some engineers resist the idea. Why fix what isn’t broken?
Because projects got more complex and teams more diverse. Communication, leadership, adaptability, teamwork, and problem-solving are how technical work travels. Introducing that change takes the same care as any other change management: clear communication, involvement, and a demonstration of the benefits.
You are not asking them to become less technical. You are adding a layer of interpersonal skill so the technical work can actually land.
